Abstract:

The present work provides a brief overview of the debates about the construction of a national urban agriculture policy in Brazil, which involves actors from the field of agroecology and food and nutrition security. It also explains data from a research that studied the Integrated. Project of Community Gardens in the surroundings of CEASA/PE. The first steps of this research coincided with the questioning of whether the project dynamized the space/municipality, or just integrated an exogenous development project. To answer this question, the socio-spatial dynamics observed in the surroundings of CEASA/PE were analyzed before and after the insertion of the project, seeking to identify the transformations in the municipality resulting from its implementation. The research sought to identify the objectives and justifications that were established regarding the decision to implement the Integrated Project of Community Gardens in the surroundings of CEASA/PE in the city of Recife; compare the current reality with the forecast in the letter of intent of the public policy in question; identify the main environmental impacts in the areas directly linked to the Integrated Project of Community Gardens in the surroundings of CEASA-PE. The methodology used was the case study, having used secondary and primary data, the latter in the form of semi-structured interviews. Finally, the first conclusions obtained from the analyzes carried out were listed, seeking answers to the questions that guided the research, and that configured its objective.
