Abstract:
Objective To investigate the status and related factors of functional activities among elderly people in communities of Weifang city,Shandong province.
Methods Using cluster sampling,we enrolled 1 208 residents aged 60 years and above in communities of Weifang city and surveyed them with Functional Activities Questionnaire (FAQ) between August and October,2015.
Results The average age of the elderly was 69.19 ±7.506 years.The mean score of FAQ for the elderly was 6.04±5.425 and 57.2% of the elderly could fulfill the functional activities listed in FAQ independently.Logistic regression analyses showed that aged 65 years or more (odds ratio

CI:1.176-3.152) and suffering from chronic disease (

CI:1.480-2.453) were hindering factors of functional activities;whereas,married (
OR=0.589,95%
CI:0.420-0.825)and participating in physical exercises (

CI:0.498-0.849) were promoting factors of functional activities.
Conclusion Age,whether suffering from chronic disease,marital status,physical exercise,and daily living ability are main influencing factors of functional activities among community elderly people in Weifang city.
