Abstract: Using a functional analytic approach, we study various aspects of nonlinear, nonlocal Maxwell equations in matter, such as (local as well as global) well-posedness and exponential stability. The results obtained are applied in a case study with the goal to rigorously justify a slowly-varying amplitude approximation of surface wave packets at a flat interface between homogeneous and dispersive nonlinear media.
Verschiedene Aspekte nichtlinearer, nichtlokaler, makroskopischer Maxwellgleichungen, wie etwa (lokale sowie globale) Wohlgestelltheit und exponentielle Stabilität, werden mithilfe eines funktional-analytischen Zugangs untersucht. Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse werden in einem Fallbeispiel angewandt, um die Approximation von Wellenpaketen an einer flachen Grenzfläche zwischen homogenen, dispersiven nichtlinearen Medien mithilfe einer Amplitudengleichung zu rechtfertigen.
