Inaugural Editorial: New Era, New Journal

Jia FAN, MD, Ph.D, Professor, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hepatologist, President of Zhongshan Hospital, Chairman of Shanghai Liver Disease Institute, Director of Liver Cancer Institute, Fudan University. Engaged in clinical diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary tumors, liver transplantation, and mechanism of metastasis and recurrence research of hepatocellular carcinoma. Prof. FAN pioneered multimode comprehensive treatment of liver cancer complicated with portal vein tumor thrombus and put forward the "Shanghai-Fudan Standard" of liver transplantation and the comprehensive strategy of prevention and treatment of metastasis and recurrence after transplantation. He also systematically analyzed the molecular mechanism of microenvironment regulation of metastasis and recurrence of liver cancer, established the prediction model of early diagnosis and metastasis and recurrence of liver cancer and realized the transformation of several clinical techniques. He has won 4 times of the Second Prize of the National Scientific & Technological Progress Award, the First Prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, and the First Prize of Science & Technology Progress Award of Shanghai
