Description

We are proposing to deploy approximately 200 instruments including 180 SmartSolo nodes to record aftershocks of the Nurdagi and Ekinozu earthquakes that has devastated a large portion of southwestern Turkey. Our goals are to understand the nature of the fault structure in this region and help to understand the potential for additional large earthquakes on adjoining sections of the East Anatolian Fault, northern Dead Sea Fault, and Cyprean arc. Longer term scientific goals will be to better understand the fault structure and nature of the Sinai-Arabian-Anatolian triple junction which has never been well studied.
