The structure of the TS carbon prepared from phenol resin with nickelocene was studied with high resolution electron microscopy.It has many micropores of which walls consist of carbon layer stacks.The carbon layers are straight and well-developed in long range, but the stacking of these layers has no three-dimensional order (turbostratic). The carbon formed by the catalytic action of silicon has the same microtexture and structure.
