Nicrophorus vespilloides Herbst, 1783

Material examined. Turkey: Ardahan: 1 female, 10 km S Posof, Ilgardağı pass, 41°25.9'N / 042°44.5'E, 2540– 2600 m, 5.–7.VII.2004, Jiří Hájek & Jan Růžička leg., steppe and pastures on SW slope, baited pitfall traps (fish meat) with ethylene glycol (JRUC).

Distribution in Turkey. Adıyaman (Háva et al. 1998; Sikes & Venables 2013a, b).

Remarks. Widely distributed Holarctic species (Růžička 2015), recently confirmed from Alaska, Yukon and Northwest Territories, but not from the rest of North America (Sikes et al. 2016). In central Europe, commonly found in forested habitats, most frequent in wet coniferous forests (Růžička 1994). In Turkey, reported from a single record in Adıyaman Province, belonging to the Eastern Anatolia Region (Fig. 33). Here we report a second record from Eastern Anatolia Region, which is the first record from Ardahan Province.
