Description

Diplectrum sciurus Gilbert, 1892.

Gulf Sand Perch or Squirrel Sand Perch. To 17 cm (6.7 in) TL (Heemstra in Fischer et al. 1995). Bahía Magdalena, southern Baja California (Watson in Moser 1996) and Gulf of California (Heemstra in Fischer et al. 1995). Probably in northern Peru (Chirichigno and Vélez 1998). Depth: 15–155 m (50–508 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California).
