Description
Symplectoscyphus subdichotomus (Kirchenpauer, 1884)
Material examined: BBB 2016: St. 4; St. 5; St. 9; St. 12; St. 13; St. 16; St. 18; St. 23; St. 27; St. 28; St. 31; St. 32; St. 33; St. 34; St. 35; St. 36; St. 38; St. 39 (Fig. 2A) (MACN-In: 43479, 43480, 43481).
Distribution: The species presents a broad geographic distribution in southwestern Atlantic, between 29º– 56°S, reported as Sertularella johnstoni; Sertularella subdichotoma; Sertularella johnstoni (Oliveira et al. 2016 and references therein).
Remarks: Species were frequently found in all analyzed sites, usually conforming dense and mature clumps. Colonies were found attached on bryozoans, Chaetopterus antarcticus tubes, and the hydroids Halecium jaederholmi, Synthecium protectum and Hincksella stolonifera.
