Forms of social and pedagogical support of the population in the territory of Smolensk province in the middle of the XIX - beginning of the XX century

The article provides a contemporary understanding of the term “social and pedagogical support”, specifies the main directions of social and pedagogical support of the population, including children, in the Smolensk province in the XIX century. Describes the activities of almshouses, charitable institutions and shelters in this period for the oversight over orphans, children left without parental care, underage vagrants and beggars.
