Summary

Data included in this data set are for trap net captured juvenile suckers from Upper Klamath Lake, Oregon starting in 2001. Data were collected on fishing effort, the number of suckers captured, sucker length, and sucker species. There are two levels of data. Net level data contains 14,838 records and the data file is 2,069 KB and fish level data contains 25,236 records and the data file is 1,543 KB. The two files can be linked on SampleID and DatePulled, which is unique to each net set. Data files are comma delimited.

Purpose

Eight different studies with a variety of goals were conducted on juvenile suckers in Upper Klamath Lake between 2001 and 2015. Study one investigated juvenile sucker use of vegetated and un-vegetated shoreline habitats. Study two examined use of near-shore and off-shore habitat and examined summer-time age-0 sucker migration patterns along the eastern shore of Upper Klamath Lake. Study three was a quantitative estimation of age-0 and age-1 sucker habitat use in the Upper Klamath Lake system including Agency Lake and the restoration sites in the Williamson Delta. Study four examined summer-time juvenile sucker use of Hanks Marsh. Study five compared health and condition of suckers in Upper Klamath Lake and Clear Lake Reservoir in California. In 2015 a juvenile sucker monitoring project was implemented to track cohorts through time (Study six). Two studies focused on spring time distributions of suckers; study seven, a study on the spring-time distribution of age-1 suckers in 2007 and study eight, an effort to capture and tag age-1 suckers.
