ABSTRACT

Managing your time effectively is crucial for academic and professional development. For tourism, hospitality and events management employment it is even more important as you may be required to complete a number of tasks or duties in support of a range of stakeholders (customers, management, suppliers, and colleagues). The diversity in demands for your time, and range of people requiring your input means that effective time management is not only an ability to use, but a skill to refine. This chapter will outline what time management is, how it is organised, categorised and how you can become more effective at using it to support your academic and professional development. Time management is aligned to personal, academic and professional roles in this chapter to enable you to consider a range of strategies to complete different tasks and duties.
