ABSTRACT

In 2018, Dr Lori Patton Davis, President of the Association for the Study of Higher Education, introduced a series of scholarly initiatives to inspire the higher education community's engagement in Woke Research, under the theme she chose for the annual conference, "Envisioning a Woke Academy". Dache-Gerbino explains to readers how she conceptualizes Calle and used it to support Mizzou's Concerned Student 1950, extending Calle's reach beyond her classroom to the streets of Ferguson. Contributors Meseret Hailu and Molly Sarubbi utilize critical discourse analysis to examine how Black Resistance tends to be framed in The Chronicle of Higher Education. Finally, the people special issue closes with an article that aims to support Black scholars to engage qualitatively in Black Liberation Research.
