Effects of age on microvascular function
Tijn P.J. Jansen, Peter Damman et al.
This study found an age-dependent increase in minimal microvascular resistance and decrease in microvascular function, represented by a decreased microvascular resistance reserve, in patients with angina and no obstructive coronary artery disease.

Safety – LAAO
Lasse Hubertus Tiroke, Jens Erik Nielsen-Kudsk et al.

This long-term cardiac CT follow-up study of 52 patients who underwent left atrial appendage occlusion with the Amplatzer Amulet device found stable left atrial appendage sealing, low rates of device-related thrombosis, and excellent long-term device durability over a median 5.8-year follow-up period.

Vulnerable plaque features and adverse events
David del Val, Elvin Kedhi et al.
In diabetic patients with non-ischaemic coronary lesions, the presence of OCT-detected vulnerability features, especially in combination, was associated with a higher risk of adverse cardiovascular events.

Clinical value of HSR in stable angina
Coen K.M. Boerhout, Martijn Meuwissen et al.
This study found that the hyperaemic stenosis resistance (HSR) index more accurately identified the presence of inducible ischaemia and was an independent predictor of target vessel failure at 5-year follow-up in patients with chronic coronary syndromes.

Ultrathin-strut versus thin-strut BP-SES healing and outcomes
Ryutaro Ikegami, Farouc A. Jaffer et al.
This study found similar early stent healing and 1-year clinical outcomes between ultrathin-strut (60 μm) and thin-strut (80 μm) biodegradable-polymer sirolimus-eluting stents, suggesting that stent strut thickness may not be the sole driver of the observed benefits of these stents.

Chimney/snorkel stenting
Christopher L. Brown, Paul S. Teirstein et al.
A 92-year-old female with prior TAVI underwent TAV-in-TAV with chimney stenting to preserve coronary patency. Bench testing revealed that coronary stent cell-crossing height and second TAV placement are crucial for successful chimney stenting.

Short DAPT after NSTE-ACS in HBR patients
Davide Cao, Roxana Mehran et al.
In high bleeding risk patients undergoing non-complex PCI with an everolimus-eluting stent, 1-month DAPT was associated with similar ischemic risk and reduced bleeding compared to 3-month DAPT, regardless of clinical presentation.

Francesco Burzotta, Goran Stankovic et al.
The 2023 European Bifurcation Club meeting discussed the use of IVUS and OCT to optimize PCI on coronary bifurcation lesions, but angiography is expected to remain the primary guidance modality. The EBC reviewed tips and tricks to optimize angiography-guided PCI for these lesions.
