Rules, Not to Be Broken

Licia Canton is the author of The Pink House and Other Stories (2018). Her short story collection Almond Wine and Fertility (2008; 2018) was published in Italy as Vino alla mandorla e fertilita (2015). Her writing has been anthologized internationally in English, French, Chinese, Italian and dialect. She is also a literary translator and founding editor-in-chief of Accenti Magazine (www.accenti.ca). Licia Canton has published ten volumes as (co)editor, including two on the internment of Italian Canadians during World War II. She has served on the board of the Quebec Writers’ Federation (QWF) and is past-president of the Association of Italian Canadian Writers (AICW). Dr. Canton is currently Honorary Fellow in Translation at the University of Hull, U.K. In June 2019, she was visiting professor and writer-in-residence at Universita della Calabria. She holds a Ph.D. from Université de Montréal and an M.A. from McGill University. She received the Premio Italia nel Mondo in 2018 and the Premio Donna Veneta in 2015. She lives in Montreal.
