Abstract
High tooling costs and a low degree of material utilization lead to high production costs for the manu-facture of structural components in aerospace engineering made of the alloy Ti 6Al 4V. The REGULUS research project aims to develop a process chain that significantly improves the situation concerning these cost drivers. The arc-based additive manufacturing process is used to build a near-net-shape blank. The target geometry is then generated using milling strategies specially developed for machining under rapidly changing engagement conditions.
