In the occasion of the 2001 Geiyo Earthquake, drop of ceiling was observed in long span buildings such as gymnasiums. This report summarized the observed ceiling damage of four gymnasiums and proposed the practical countermeasure of such damage with some experimental results on dynamic vibration tests on ceilings.
