Abstract
The generic status ofCalonyction is evaluated, discussed, and rejected. A key to the four species ofIpomoea sectionCalonyction growing spontaneously in temperate North America is presented together with descriptions, synonyms, and distributions. The origins of the species and their economic value are discussed.
