Learning the universal language English has become not only a necessity in this fast moving world but also a liability. Teaching the English language from the perspective of reading, writing, listening and speaking requires the development of teaching techniques and strategies. This paper will shed light on the various teaching strategies required to teach English as a second language. Furthermore, objectives, content and learning strategies from the perspective of various linguists and experts will be explored. Thus it will be clear that an important classification of strategies, which help teachers of the English language to obtain greater advances in the teaching-learning process, help in understanding the perception of other researchers, who have left a legacy to the teaching.



Objectives

Teaching English as a foreign Language comes with various objectives to be achieved, as mentioned below;

• To train the students to apply their linguistic knowledge about the English language to the practical field of their teaching as a foreign language.

• To relate professional and linguistic competencies by way of the incidence in the didactics of the English language

• Train students to project their advanced training towards new forms of communication, social intervention and knowledge generation

• To increase its capacity for reflection on the role of the English language as a vehicle for international communication in the multicultural and multilingual panorama of our time
