Developing a student-teacher assessment card in mathematics in the light of INTASC standards in the practical education course at the College of Basic Education in the State of Kuwait

Abstract

The aim of the current research is to develop the assessment of the student teacher majoring in mathematics in light of INTASC standards at the College of Basic Education in the State of Kuwait. The descriptive analytical method was used. The research tools were represented in the two student assessment cards by (the general supervisor, the local supervisor, and the school director) and the units of analysis in the course of the research seminar, and all of them consisted of (85) units of analysis, the appropriate INTASC criteria for evaluating a student-teacher majoring in mathematics have been determined. A suitable analysis form was designed for study purposes and its validity and reliability were verified. The results proved that the percentage of achieving INTASC standards in the two student assessment cards approved by the Office of Practical Education amounted to (85.89%), and in the order of the fields, the results of the research found that the first rank was for the field (specialization subject), where it obtained an alignment rate of (11.53%), nd in the second place came the fields of (Education Strategies) and (Learning Environment), each of which got a percentage of (10.25%), followed by the fields of: planning for teaching and assessment and (cooperation, ethics and relations), while the remaining areas were their percentages less. In light of these results, a new format was proposed for the two student calendar cards, specializing in mathematics, according to INTASC standards.
