An economic study of date palm production in Aswan governorate

Abstract

The results showed that the average total area Cultivated with fruit crops in Aswan governorate amounted to about 43,874 thousand feddans during the average period (2017-2019), and that the date palm crop came in first place with an average total area of about 24,735 thousand feddans, representing about 56.38% of the total cultivated area during the study period. The average fruit crop area in Aswan governorate amounted to about 1.25 million acres during the period (2017-2019), and the date palm crop came first with an average fruitful area of about 1.23 million acres, representing about 90.68% of the total governorate during the study period. The average total production of fruit crops in Aswan Governorate amounted to about 206,473 thousand tons during the average period (2017-2019). As for the area cultivated with the date palm crop, the results showed an increase in the area cultivated with the date palm crop by a statistically significant amount of about 1.25 thousand acres, with an annual increase rate of about 7.56% of the general average during the aforementioned period, and the coefficient of determination reached about 0.72, which means It means that about 83% of the changes occurring in the cultivated area of date palm crop in Egypt are due to the changes reflected by the time factor. A general increasing trend that is not statistically significant.
