Abstract

The microbial fuel cell (MFC) has gained much attention because of its ability to generate power from organic or inorganic compounds via microorganisms. Based upon the ability of converting chemical energy to electrical energy, MFCs have many promising applications, such as electricity generation, bio-hydrogen production, wastewater treatment and biosensor. Bio Photo Voltaic Cell (BPVC) is a type of MFC that utilize phototrophic microbes. In this study, BPVC, utilizing wastes as a source combining Green Algae (Pseudochlorella pringsheimii RSN07) and Bacteria (Bacillus cereus RSN07/Enterobacter clocae GR07) to produce the electricity. Based on the optimisation process, graphite rod with stainless steel mesh as electrode with distance of 5 cm and 0.1 mM of Ferricyanide as electron acceptor has increased the BPVC performance of 463 mV by Enterobacter cloacae GR07. Further optimisation in designing, Biological parameters required to found the suitable renewable energy.

Keywords: Bio Photo Voltaic Cell (BPVC), Electrode material, Ferricyanide
