AULATOUCH - TECHNOLOGICAL PLATFORM OF EDUCATIONAL USE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF CLASSES MEDIATED BY DIGITAL TABLETS

Abstract:
The incorporation of technological platforms and mobile devices for educational purposes in the classroom, supported by holistic and interactive educational models, constitute valuable resources for the formation of the human being, because they suppose a greater motivation for the study, stimulate the learning, improve the level of concentration, promotes interactivity and interaction, technological skills, content assimilation and collaborative work of students; all previous considered today as potentializing elements of meaningful learning. The article presents the implementation’s results of the Project "Strengthening of Educational Quality in Mathematics and Citizen Competencies through the use of Tablets", aimed at teachers and students of 9th, 10th and 11th from 31 Official Schools of the District of Barranquilla, whose purpose was to develop student’s mathematics and citizenship skills with the use of tablets in education in the search for educational quality. To implement the strategy was created a platform named “AULATOUCH”, with a web and mobile access supported in a model holistic and interactive pedagogy that took into account both the social and personal diversity of students and their different ways of learning and communicating. The model was transferred to the teachers of the schools that were part of the project for its implementation in the classroom. The research was based on the decodes of the educational innovation of Camiña, Ballester, Coll & Garcia, in the theory of learning for the digital age, the connectivism of Siemens & Downes and in the systems theory of Ludwig von Bertalanffy, a mixed approach of descriptive-non-experimental explanatory type, under the deductive method. The techniques for collecting the information were the survey, the field observation, a pretest and a posttest. As a result, the pedagogical strategies mediated by tablets in the areas of mathematics and civic competences motivate students to learn, improve students’ academic performance and contribute to strengthening citizens' competences in the Institution. It is concluded that the inclusion in the classroom of a technological tool such as Aulatouch, with interactive applications and contents, constitutes a dynamic agent for didactic mediation and for the strengthening of student learning, because it positively impacted the academic performance in the subjects of math and civic competences in more than 70% of the students who participated in the project, likewise it had a favorable impact on the social aspects of the educational community, raising awareness about the importance of generating a citizen culture, healthy coexistence and social responsibility in schools in the district of Barranquilla.
