Abstract:
Multiplication is one of the basic arithmetic skills to be mastered for every pupil who learns Mathematics. Nevertheless, it had become a challenging task for pupils when they still unable to master the skills even by Year Four. To this end, this study designed a module entitled DoCtor WoRM’s Module based on Constructivist Theory, mastery learning, game-based learning for improving pupils’ achievement in multiplication skills. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of DoCtor WoRM’s Module in improving multiplication skills among Year Four low achievers. A number of 60 Year Four low achievers from the state Perak were selected using purposive sampling method as the respondents. The samples were selected based on their previous Mathematics assessment results. A pre-test was carried out in order to select the pupils who have not mastered the multiplication skills. To evaluate the effectiveness of the module, the researcher had conducted a quasi-experiment by dividing the respondents into an experimental group and a control group. The former went through a teaching and learning process using DoCtor WoRM’s Module, while the latter learnt through traditional teaching. After the pre-test, three weeks intervention was carried out to both groups of sample, followed by a post-test. Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential analysis.
