DETERMINANTS OF QUITS AND DISMISSALS (AN ANALYSIS OF DATA FROM A CHEMICAL COMPANY)

ABSTRACT

The aim of the present paper is to investigate the determinants of quits and dismissals using a data from a chemical company in Istanbul, Turkey. The statistical analysis showed that in comparison with employees over 34 years of age, younger workers were found to be 1.8 times more likely to voluntarily quit their jobs for pursuing a better job. Moreover, married workers were observed to be more prone to leave organization than single workers. Finally, the logic regression analysis indicated that gender, age, education level and tenure (individual characteristics), type of work (work-related factor) and month (non-work factor) were the determinants of quits and dismissals.
