Abstract

Ağız ve
çene cerrahisinde sert doku kayıplarının ona- rılmasında birçok materyal
kullanılmaktadır. Kemik greftleri bu materyallerin başında gelmekte olup, oto- jen,
allojen, ksenojen veya alloplastik olarak sınıflan- dırılırlar. Kemik
greftlerinin osteokondüktif, osteojenik veya osteoindüktif özellikleri, bu
materyallerin kulla- nılmasında ve iyileşme paterninde belirleyicidir.

Periosteum;
travma, tümör ve lenfosit mitojenlerin etkisiyle çoğalabilmek için uyarılabilme
yetisine sahip osteoprogenitör hücreler ihtiva eden, bir kemik örtüsü olarak
tanımlanabilir. Yapılan birçok çalışmada perios- teumun progenitör hücreleri
sayesinde kıkırdak ve kemik rejenerasyonuna katkı sağladığı gösterilmiştir.

Bu derleme
çalışmasında, periosteal greftlerin osteojenik kapasitelerinin literatür
ışığında açıklanması amaçlanmıştır.

THE USAGE OF PERIOSTEUM AS
A GRAFT MATERIAL IN ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY: LITERATURE REVIEW 

ABSTRACT

In maxillofacial
surgery, many graft materials have been used for the treatment of bony defects.
Bone grafts are the main graft materials and they are classified as autogenous,
allogeneic, xenogenic or alloplastic. The osteoconductive, osteogenic and
osteoinductive properties of bone grafts determines the pattern of healing
process and the utilization of the material.

Periosteum
can be defined as a bony cover that has osteoprogenitor cells with an ability
of proliferation by trauma, tumor and lymphocyte mitogens. Most studies have
shown periosteum promotes the bone and cartilage tissue regeneration.

The aim of this
review is the investigation of osteogenic capacity of periosteal grafts in
literature.
