The existence of Amasya as a settlement dates back to very old times. After the domination of Turks in Anatolia, Amasya was ruled by Danişmendli, Seljuk and Ottoman administrations, and it gained a special importance after becoming a sanjak during the Ottoman period. In Amasya, many historical buildings from different periods are located some of which have survived with its entirety to the present day. It is known from the Ayas Ağa waqf registers that Kumacik Bath, located in Bayezid Pasha District of Amasya city, was built in 1495 on a separate land purchased in order to generate income for the Ayas Ağa waqf complex. Kumacık bath has survived to the present day that was gone through different structural changes along its life time after its first construction. It has a near-square ground plan and consists of a dome-covered changing room (apoditerium), a warm-water room (epidarium) with a flat ceiling aranged in a narrow corridor and a hot-water room (caldarium) with four iwans and three-cornered khalwa cells (private rooms). After the construction of the building, changes were made in all three sections, and the bathhouse (hamam) has reached the present day in a different way, both in terms of plan and appearance. In this study, Kumacik bath is described and the changes it has undergone to date has been explained, and a proposal put forward about the original plan of the building based on the old documents and information.
