Thorexanthin, a New Carotenoid Pigment from the Caribbean Sponge Thorecta horridus

The red-pigmented caribbean sponge Thorecta horridus contains thorexanthin (3-methoxy-β-X-caroten-4-one) as a new carotenoid pigment. Its structure was determined by spectroscopic methods, including 2 D NMR experiments.
