Atlantic cod catch records from Cefas survey cruises in the Arctic 1930-1959

Description

The data are records of the station details and cod catches from UK government fisheries survey cruises in the Arctic region from 1930 to 1949. They have been digitised from survey logbooks held by the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas). Data are organised by cruise, including name of vessel and date, and by survey station, including location and time. Station details include sea temperatures, salinities and bottom depth. Number of fish or weight of cod (Gadus morhua) catches in kg are recorded. Cruises were mainly carried out on the RV Ernest Holt, but also a number of other vessels. Descriptions of the cruises can be found in Graham, M. (1953) English Fishery Research in Northern Waters. Arctic Institute of North America. 6: 252–259.
