Emma Crosby, Fort Simpson, B.C., to Eliza Douse [Mother]. Expresses her delight in receiving letters and hopes that her mother is comfortable. Replies to her mother's uneasiness at not receiving a letter when expected by noting the circuitous path that letters must take to travel between Fort Simpson and Ontario. Thanks her family for sending photos and the parcels she had been waiting for. Describes Jessie's healthiness, appearance and happy demeanour. Exclaims at the wickedness of white men luring young native girls away to live with them unwed, and expresses her uneasiness at not having enough work to do for the three young girls now staying with them. Describes several recent visits by an American army General, a U.S. Indian agent, and the Captain of the ship that supplies them.
