Abstract

Determinations of the refractivity of argon from measurements made with a corner-reflector Michelson interferometer are given for 17 vacuum wavelengths from 4679 to 20 586 Å. Sixteen of these measurements resulted in the dispersion formula (n − 1)107 = 643.2135 + [286060.21/(144 − (σ2)], at 15°C and 760 Torr, where σ is the wave number in reciprocal microns. Comparison is made with other workers who made similar measurements.
