Enhanced optical rogue waves by scattering caustic networks in tailored disorder

Abstract

We demonstrate optical rogue waves as a consequence of enhanced focusing of caustic networks due to linear propagation in weakly scattering 2D tailored disorder in nonlinear photorefractive systems, and discuss the conditions for extreme amplitudes.
