Coherent Multimode-Fiber MIMO Transmission with Spatial Constellation Modulation

Abstract

A 12-dimensional 32-point sphere constellation defined among three spatial MMF modes exhibits a 1.5-dB improvement versus 3 PDM-BPSK transmitters at 0.001 outage probability even in the presence of statistical mode dependent loss.
