Abstract

This article introduces the Italian translation of a writing by E.C. Lindeman (1855-1953), entitled Elements of Family Strength (1952), with my explanatory notes and comments. This aims to reason that family life is a topic of vital interest in the field of adult education, concerning its fundamental aspects, which need to be understand in their historical dimension. In particular, Lindeman’s essay offers the opportunity to elaborate and re-elaborate a family pattern that embodies and testifies values requiring, in educational perspective, commitment, care, support and planning, such as: brotherhood, respect, sense of community, and active citizenship.
