Based on the presumed structure of 1, 7, 9-heptadecatrien-4-yn-3-ol for the new component in the essential oil of Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. MEY.), its synthesis was attempted but the compound obtained differed from that of natural panaxynol. Therefore, this assumed structure is withdrawn.
