ABSTRACT
P lants are amazing laboratories of chemical synthesis. When supplied with the simplest and least expensive starting materials, such as carbon dioxide, sunlight, water, and minerals, they synthesize thousands of chemical compounds of differing molecular structures. A group of synthetic chemists provided with the same raw materials can never dream of achieving the same results in their lifetimes.
