Abstract
The feasibility of long-term operation of SOFC is demonstrated with a short-stack with 2 anode supported cells at 700 °C at constant current density of 0.5 A/cm² over 30,000 hours resulting in a degradation rate in the order of 8 mV/kh on average. Reduction of the degradation rate to about 4 mV/kh is shown to be possible by selecting alternative manufacturing methods as for instance atmospheric plasma spraying for the protective coating on interconnect steel.
