Abstract

Welcome to the 26th annual conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE 2021). Just like in 2020, ITiCSE 2021 will be held virtually due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

ITiCSE 2021 will take place from June 26 - July 1. The program of the conference will consist of keynote lectures, paper sessions, panels, tips and techniques, courseware demonstrations, posters, Doctoral Consortium, and working group presentations. This year working groups started their work earlier in the Spring remotely and will be submitting draft reports just before the conference begins.

Continuing a long-standing trend, we received record numbers of high-quality submissions. The full papers track received a record 275 full paper submissions, a slight increase on last year which was also a record. Every paper received at least three reviews and one metareview. This was possible thanks to the outstanding effort and commitment of the ITiCSE 2021 Program Committee. The Program Committee consisted of 240 researchers from the field of computing education, including 35 senior members. Though no review process is flawless, we are confident that this effort led to a vibrant conference program, capturing multiple voices and perspectives in the field.

Starting with 275 full papers submitted, the program committee worked very hard to select 84 papers to be presented at ITiCSE 2021. In addition, the proceedings include 5 working group abstracts, one panel, 15 tips, techniques & courseware, 25 poster abstracts, and 9 doctoral consortium abstracts.
