Abstract

4-[(2,2-Dicyanoethenyl)amino]benzenesulfonamides were synthesized by condensation of malononitrile with the corresponding benzenesulfonamide derivatives and triethyl orthoformate in butan-2-ol used as solvent. The structure of the synthesized compounds was confirmed by 1H and 13C NMR spectral data. The synthesized compounds were screened for their in vitro antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiurease, and carbonic anhydrase inhibitory activities, and some of them showed excellent antioxidant and antibacterial activities.
