Abstract

This study is devoted to direct and inverse spectral problems on transverse vibrations of a loaded multisupport shaft.

The influence of the characteristics of a loaded multisupport shaft on the spectrum of its vibration frequencies is studied by solving the direct problem. It is established that an increase in the weights of loads and in the distance between the outermost supports reduces the natural vibration frequencies of a shaft. Examples, tables, and plots of appropriate dependences are given. The inverse problem of determining the weights of loads from the vibration frequency spectrum of a three- and four-support shaft is posed and solved for the first time. Analytical formulas for calculating the weights of loads are derived. The question of maintaining a specified safe range of the vibration frequencies of a loaded multisupport shaft is studied by solving the inverse problem. It is shown that an increase in the weight of one of the loads requires those of the other loads to be appropriately reduced in order to retain the vibration frequencies of a three-support shaft within a specified range. Examples are given.
