Femtosecond filamentary modifications in bulk polymer materials

Abstract

Focusing femtosecond laser pulse produces filamentary modifications inside polymer materials. In this paper, filamentary tracks in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) are investigated by use of femtosecond pulses from a Ti:sapphire amplifier. The relationship between the formation of a filament and filamentary modification is investigated. The morphology of filamentary modifications is investigated and spectral properties of a propagated pulse are characterized.
