Abstract

A new species of Nectria, N. triseptata, is described and illustrated based on collections from Anhui and Henan provinces of China. It is characterized by superficial, gregarious ascomata, which do not become cupulate upon drying, and cylindrical to ellipsoidal (1–)3(–5)-septate ascospores. Comparisons were made between the new fungus and morphologically similar species. Combined sequence analyses of six loci confirm its taxonomic position in Nectria.
