Abstract

Analysis of geodynamic processes of sandstone plateaus in the Bohemian Paradise protected landscape area. The research on the localities of interest is aimed at analyzing the current geodynamic processes affecting the relief development of sandstone plateaus in the Bohemian Paradise natural reserve. The current relief developed mainly in the Pleistocene, when the Jizera River carved its present-day wide valley and the underlying soft clay rocks were uncovered. Favorable conditions were thus created for a slow destruction of the sandstone plateaus. Here, the slope movements occur in the form of landsliding and slow block movements and their epiphenomena such as pseudokarst sinkholes, linear depressions or fissures. Current forms of slope deformations were considered to have been inactive for a long time, partially fossilized under present climatic conditions. To confirm the present activity of slope movements, a regular measuring of relative movements of blocks was started by the tactile dilatometric method. The activity of slope movements was successfully confirmed. That is why detailed research was started including mapping, installation of dilatometric points for further measurements, installation of crack gauge TM 71, exploratory boring, mineralogical analysis of rock samples and chemical analysis of water. e research showed the dependence of geodynamic processes not only on the geological fabric of the relief, but also on rock structure, tectonic failure and on the water regime. Due to this continuing activity of the slope movements, human settlements and cultural monuments are endangered, and it is therefore very important to continue these observations.
