While the preceding Special Issue, Vol. 37 Nos 7/8, contains seven articles orientated toward the digitalization of facilities management, this one includes eight articles that represent a wider range of topics, often with sustainability in focus. The common theme of these issues is Shaping Tomorrow’s Facilities Management, a choice which reflects an origin in the University of Salford International Research Conference, held in conjunction with CIB in September 2017, and entitled Shaping Tomorrow’s Built Environment. The highest number of papers presented there was under the auspices of the CIB Working Commission W70 Facilities Maintenance and Management. Contributions were not limited to only authors from W70; other authors were also invited to contribute to these issues of Facilities.

An overview of all articles set in a broader context is to be found in the preceding issue (Bröchner et al., 2019). As guest editors, we have been impressed by the quality and current interest of the papers we have received. We wish to thank not only the authors but also and not least all those anonymous reviewers who have provided a wealth of constructive and helpful comments.
