Abstract
In order to extract important features of the process of particle production, we study the dynamics of the process by making use of bosonized quantum electrodynamics in one space and one time dimension. We obtain the rapidity distribution of produced particles, the fragmentation function, and the dynamics of the boson field when a positive charge and a negative charge are separated at a finite energy. Our results are generalizations of those of Casher, Kogut, and Susskind and agree with their results in the high-energy limit.
