Abstract
The comparison of bosonic and fermionic descriptions of collective nuclear structure are given within the framework of algebraic models. Despite the lack of the F spin in the fermion picture, unification of normal and exotic states can be achieved by the n-p quadrupole interactions. Results for the are used to illustrate the physics.
