Abstract

The effect of Pauli paramagnetic limiting on the upper critical magnetic field Hc2 of a spin-fluctuation-mediated d-wave superconductor with arbitrary impurity concentration is calculated. In contrast to s-wave pairing, the extreme Pauli limit Hc2,P does depend on the impurity concentration. In this model Hc2,P does not correspond to the highest attainable value of Hc2. Our equations reduce properly to the Werthamer-Helfand-Hohenberg equations but with the factor (1+λ)1 of the Schossmann and Carbotte calculation. Strong-coupling effects are considered explicitly. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
