Spontaneous electrostatic potential in spin-split metals

Abstract

The low-temperature phase of chromium has recently been proposed to be described by a spin-split state, in which macroscopic spin currents flow in the absence of applied external fields. It is pointed out here that a voltage difference should appear in such a system between different faces of the sample.
