The lifetimes of the 6p ${}_{}{}^2{}_{}{}^{}$ ${\mathit{D}}_{5/2}^{\mathit{o}}$, 6p ${}_{}{}^4{}_{}{}^{}$${\mathit{P}}_{5/2}^{\mathit{o}}$, 6p ${}_{}{}^4{}_{}{}^{}$ ${\mathrm{D}}_{7/2}^{\mathit{o}}$, 6p ${}_{}{}^4{}_{}{}^{}$${\mathit{D}}_{5/2}^{\mathit{o}}$, and 6p ${}_{}{}^2{}_{}{}^{}$${\mathit{F}}_{7/2}^{\mathit{o}}$ levels in Xe ii have been measured with a beam-laser technique. A detailed spectroscopic investigation of the fluorescence channels of the excited states has been performed to confirm the identifications. As a consequence of some reassignments experimental lifetime values can now unambiguously be ascribed to these levels.
