Abstract

We report a measurement of the lifetime of the 2 3S1 state in two-electron krypton. The lifetime is found to be 171.0±2.2 ps, which is in reasonable agreement with current theoretical calculations. This measurement provides a test of the order (Zα)2 relativistic corrections to this lifetime.
